- Vivian Mae Sunsdahl, 64, long-time resident of Biwabik, and more recently of Mountain Iron, died Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth.
She was born May 23, 1949, on the family farm near Grygla, Minn., the daughter of Chester and Ovedia (Anderson) Stratton.
Vivian was united in marriage to Floyd Sunsdahl on July 26, 1969, in Grygla. They moved to Biwabik, where they resided for 31 years. After Floyd died, she moved in with her daughter LuAnn. She enjoyed working and volunteering at the Mesabi Humane Society for many years, retiring on Nov. 30, 2009. Twelve hours later, she started her new job at the Mesaba Animal Hospital in Hibbing.
She loved her family, friends, animals and her work. She will be terribly missed and forever in our hearts.
She is survived by her mother, Ovedia Stratton of Grygla, Minn.; son, David (Sheila) Sunsdahl of Eveleth; daughter, LuAnn Sunsdahl of Mountain Iron; grandchildren, Alicia, Joshua, and Nicole "Punky" Sunsdahl; stepgrandchildren, Erik, Joshua, and Kylee; great-grandchildren, Hannah and Gabriel; sisters, Pauline (Wally) Sistad of Grygla, and Jane Hoy of Gatzke, Minn.; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and uncountable friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd; father, Chester; brother, Sonny; infant sister, Betty Rose; and brother-in-law, Leo Hoy.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, at the Landmark Funeral Home Chapel in Virginia with Pastor Rodney Slessor officiating. Visitation will be from noon until the time of the service.
