- Ole Sunsdahl, 82, of Tower-Soudan, formerly of Goodridge, Minn., died Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2000, at the Virginia Regional Medical Center.
He was born June 26, 1918, in Star Township, Pennington County, Minn., to Knute and Thea (Selmanson) Sunsdahl. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps as a young man during the Depression. He married Inga May Holen on Nov. 14, 1939, in Gully, Minn. He farmed with his wife from 1939 to 1954 near Goodridge. They moved to the Tower-Soudan area in 1954 and worked for Foley Construction when Foley was building Erie Mining Co. He later worked for Erie Mining Co., the Soudan Underground Mine and retired from Reserve Mining in 1981.
He was known as a kind, friendly man who enjoyed people and made friends wherever he went. He was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Soudan and kept the church lawn neatly mowed for many years. He will be sadly missed by his loving family.
Survivors include his wife, Inga, of 60-1/2 years; two daughters, Carol (Luc) LeBon, and Wanda (Jim) Fisher; five grandchildren, Nancy (Jeff) Lerum, Michael (Tammy) Sunsdahl, Rachael (Chad) Nordlinder, Patrick J. Fisher and Amanda Lynn Nelson; two great-gandchildren, Tyrel J. Lerum and Cheyenne M. Lerum; three stepgrandchildren, Christine (Doug) LeBon Grapple, Patricia (Guntram) LeBon Herb and Charles (Laurie) LeBon; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Henrik M. Herb and Natalie S. Herb; a brother, Marvin (Gertrude) Sunsdahl ; a sister, Helen Moen; numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by a son and a daughter-in-law, Harley and Ursula Sunsdahl; a daughter, Julie E. Nelson; parents, Knute and Thea Sunsdahl; two sisters, Julia Larson and Selma Sanders; two brothers, Henry (Hank) Sunsdahl and Kenneth Sunsdahl.
