- Obituary Karen Plunkett
The family and friends of Toms River resident Karen Winifred Plunkett, who had family in Brielle, celebrate her life and morn her passing Tuesday, October 14. She was 66 years old.
Karen was born and raised in Brooklyn, before moving to the Jersey Shore with her family in 1970. She resided in Brick for nearly 30 years, before moving to Toms River.
Her warm smile, kind heart, and wonderful sense of humor will be missed by: Her daughter Jennifer and son-in-law Jim Flynn, of Brielle, her son Jim, daughter-in-law Julie, and grandson Jimmy, of Indian Trail, N.C.; her extended family of relatives; her old and close friends, Peggy Sutto, Carol and Kit Wood, and Edith and Richard Munch; and the many people she befriended over the years who came to love her as her family did.
Her loved ones will miss the twinkle in her eyes, her love of animals, and her loyalty to her friends. She was a devoted mother and beloved mother-in-law, who gave advice when asked, loved unconditionally all the time, and was proud of the people her children had become.
Karen was employed by Lorillard for 13 years, and most recently worked for Jersey Coast Vascular Associates.
She was predeceased by: her parents, John and Margaret King, her brother, John Lindlof; and her sisters, Joanne Josephson and Carole Hemberger.

Relatives and friends are invited to call from 2 to 4 p.m. today, Thursday Oct.16, at the O'Brien Funeral Home on Route 35 at New Bedford Road in Wall Township. A memorial service will be celebrated at Friday, Oct. 17 at 11 a.m. at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church on Main Street in Manasquan. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Jersey Shore Animal Center at 185 Brick Boulevard, Brick N.J. 08723, or to the American Cancer Society.
