- BENDER, Albert Gardner, 91, of Isle of Palms, SC, widower of Myrtle C. Bender, retired Engineer with Boeing Company, passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2005 at home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 30, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in Carolina Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 7113 Rivers Ave., North Charleston, SC 29406. Committal to follow at Carolina Memorial Park. A visitation will be held on Friday, September 30, 2005 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
Survivors include Deborah Menick and her husband Don of Isle of Palms, SC, Kristine Beilby and her husband Jerry of Roseville, MN, and Rebecca Dietrich and her husband Mike of Seattle, WA; son, Albert C. Bender and his wife Carole of San Jose, CA; eleven grandchildren, Cheryl Bender Isaacson and her husband, Eric, Diana Bender Hanna and her husband Sami, David Bender and his wife Sandy, Michael Bender and his wife Kelly, Tyler Dietrich and his wife Candace, Joy Menick Davidson and her husband Joel, Crystal Marie Menick, Allison Michelle Menick, and eighteen great-grandchildren, Ian, Lara, Eva, Sarah, Grace, Michaela, Natalie, Joseph, Rachel, Ryan, Sierra, Madeline, Zachary, Malia, Martia, Leilani, Josiah, and Noelle. Predeceased by wife, Myrtle C. Jensen Bender.
Mr. Bender was born on August 16, 1914 in Seattle, Washington. He was the son of Earl B. Bender and Eloise Gardner Bender. Mr. Bender was a retired Engineer with the Boeing Company, where he had worked for over 40 years. He married Myrtle Catherine Jensen on September 9, 1939. She passed away on May 13, 2004.
Mr. Bender as a strong faith and love for the Lord and was a man of prayer. He was a gifted teacher, elder, choir conductor, and fine vocalist in the Presbyterian Church. He continually expressed immense gratitude to God for his family. In 1999, he and his wife moved to South Carolina and became members of East Bridge Presbyterian Church in Mt. Pleasant.
